This is a bookmark I made for my husband for Valentine's Day and also to enter into the Stitching Pirates Bookmark contest [link] (effectively killing two birds with one stone!)

It is a variation of the design Futurecast by Teresa Wentzler - it is actually a Freebie design and you can find the pattern here: [link]

It didn't actually start as a bookmark - I made the mistake and started stitching it on the wrong Aida count material. The design ended up being WAAAAAAAY smaller than I wanted. Instead of leaving it as a picture, I decided to turn it into a bookmark and that was when SP decided to do their contest! What luck!

The dragon I love. Oh, I may have done a bit of things differently if done again, but I'm very proud of how I got him holding a book instead of a crystal ball. :w00t: The actual bookmark design, well, I would DEFINITELY do it different next time! :P

It's still enjoyable though, I hope! ;)

Hi, I just wanted to thank you for your brilliant idea of changing the ball into a book.  I was looking for the perfect end of term gift for my son's teacher and discovered your conversion.  I stitched my dragon in greens and yellows to match the school colours, I hope the teacher likes it!

Yay!  I'm so glad the idea works for someone else too!  I hope you post a picture here - I'd love to see the colors you chose and how you did your book.  :)

I have a couple of her kits too and some books but have been too chicken to do any of them. Luckily the smaller designs were a nice way to start. I'm hoping to move onto a bigger design later this year.

I think this is fantastic. I love the colors you used, and fitting in the book was really cool. :)

Thank you! I really lucked out in that I used what I had and I was able to get 4 blues that went well together. Though I really HATE working with Metallic threads. Annoying!!! :X

Amen on using metallics. But the end result is worth it.
